The Godly Family, Part 3: Fathers (Pastor Chris)
Timothy didn’t have a Christian Father. Nothing negative is said about Timothy’s dad. But neither was anything good said about Timothy’s dad. How very sad. Perhaps his father was hostile to his faith. We don’t know. At best, Timothy’s father remained indifferent to Christianity. This too is sad. Thank God for the Apostle Paul who was a father figure to the young man. In a letter to Timothy, Paul says, to Timothy, “I am writing to Timothy, my dear son…I thank God for you…Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again. Fathers! The best thing you can do for your kids is embrace Christ and, secondly, embrace your children so they know they are loved!
