Acts: Part 34 – Jesus is Lord
PASTOR ALAN DUNCALFE   -

By New Testament times, Rome’s Caesar claimed worship as “Lord”. There could only be one “Lord,” so to say Jesus was king and lord was risky. Paul and Silas said Jesus was the true Lord of all. “Paul and Silas have caused trouble all over the world,” the mob shouted, “and now they are here disturbing our city, too. And Jason has welcomed them into his home. They are all guilty of treason against Caesar, for they profess allegiance to another king, named Jesus.” With Rome’s military might pitted against Jesus’ seemingly naïve witnesses, the contest looked ridiculously uneven. It was—but 2,000 years of history shows that it was Caesar, not Jesus, who was overmatched.
